What do you do each day?
Work with a team that have different levels of experience with welding and fabrication on various projects and instruct and lead the team on processes. Manage the operation of equipment to assemble structures and parts of agricultural machinery and shed framework. Interpret engineered drawings and explain to others in the team when required.
What do you like most about your job?
To have the ability to teach/mentor young apprentices, the ability to work overtime, flexibility within the workplace, customer interaction, opportunities for further education, an extensive range of equipment.
What did you do to qualify?
Completion of Certificate III in Engineering – 4-year apprenticeship. Good work ethic and commitment to further myself in the business
What’s next in your career?
Participate in educational development when it becomes available, work towards any opportunities of promotion within with Collier and Miller, aim to achieve different supervisory roles within Collier and Miller throughout my career.
Collier and Miller have put Dion through Stream 1 in the Leadership and Management Statement of Attainment through TAFE NSW at Griffith campus. Dion is now enrolled to complete the remainder of Certificate IV in Leadership and Management through TAFE NSW at Griffith campus.
